The collaboration between Hitachi and Google Cloud aims to enhance Hitachi’s existing efforts to integrate GenAI into its operations. Hitachi took a proactive step in May 2023 by establishing a “Generative AI Center” to leverage GenAI insights and expertise in various internal tasks such as writing, summarizing, translating, and coding. This knowledge is also utilized to provide consulting services to clients who implement Hitachi’s solutions.
Teaming up with Microsoft Japan through its Lumada Alliance Program, Hitachi plans to offer support services for building and operating environments by combining Azure OpenAI Service with Hitachi’s cloud system integration capabilities. The company also introduced the role of Chief AI Transformation Officer to drive the adoption of GenAI strategies across its business units and enhance productivity through AI-driven process improvements.
Partnership Objectives
One of the key objectives of the partnership with Google Cloud is to enhance AI capabilities by training over 50,000 “GenAI Professionals” on Google’s AI solutions and models. Hitachi’s Digital Engineering business CEO, Nitesh Banga, emphasized the strategic alignment with Google Cloud to accelerate innovation and revenue growth through GenAI.
The collaboration entails joint sales, marketing, and engineering initiatives to support enterprise customers in their GenAI adoption journey, from planning to implementation and management. Google Cloud’s comprehensive AI stack, including large language models and AI-powered applications, complements Hitachi’s vision of upskilling GenAI capabilities internally and across industries.
“Our partnership offers enterprises the technology, expertise, and resources needed to effectively develop, deploy, and manage generative AI capabilities,” stated Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian.
