As more than half of consumers in the US have already used Gen AI tools, such as AI-powered chatbots and image generators, the era of Gen AI in the enterprise is now here. These AI models, which can create human-like text, code, images, and more, have evolved from being a novelty to a necessity for modern businesses. They are being rapidly adopted to boost productivity and unleash new creative capabilities.
Generative AI tools are changing how people work, from enhancing customer experience with virtual assistants to utilizing intelligent search and summarization. Recently, ServiceNow and Microsoft have announced an expansion of their strategic alliance to combine their AI capabilities and provide a seamless enterprise experience.
ServiceNow and Microsoft: Extended partnership to enhance enterprise worker experience
Announced at ServiceNow’s annual event, Knowledge 2024, the highlight of the partnership is the integration of ServiceNow’s Now Assist and Microsoft’s Copilot Gen AI assistants. Through this alliance, the two AI assistants will be able to interact intuitively and hand off tasks to each other based on an employee’s specific needs.
For example, an employee could start drafting a document with Microsoft Copilot and then seamlessly switch to Now Assist to incorporate knowledge from enterprise systems and data. Alternatively, Now Assist could use Copilot’s document creation capabilities for tasks like building a presentation.
“We believe that the collaboration of industry leaders using AI for their customers will drive the next evolution of Gen AI. By combining the power of Now Assist and Microsoft Copilot, we are transforming the way work is done,” says CJ Desai, President and COO at ServiceNow. “This partnership with Microsoft marks a new era in business operations, enabling a smarter way of working where AI assistants can coexist and collaborate to enhance productivity.”
Future capabilities will allow employees to use Copilot for Microsoft 365 from ServiceNow to create documents, such as presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, based on prompts from ServiceNow, empowering AI-driven digital business.
“At Microsoft, we are dedicated to helping our customers thrive in the age of AI,” said Rajesh Jha, EVP of Experiences and Devices at Microsoft. “Our collaboration with ServiceNow is crucial as fundamental shifts are reshaping productivity for individuals, organizations, and industries. The seamless integration of our AI assistants will enhance employee and IT productivity, reduce context switching, and simplify everyday tasks, maximizing the value of our customers’ technology investments.”
